Preflight Software :: RE: Is Free Flight better than PitStop PDF Profile Panel

Preflight Software :: RE: Is Free Flight better than PitStop PDF Profile Panel
Silkscreen has been really fun so far. Since it's a new discipline I have had to figure out allot of stuff, learn new stuff. One thing I do enjoy about my company is they are cutting edge with everything as far as doing it right and getting the best stuff to work with and cut on so many different edges... As far as "Silk" screen, I was corrected MANY times by the screen print snobs that it is not done with "Silk" and there's no "Silkscreen" printing anymore. That this is just "Screen Printing"... Oh brother... Anyways, for me it HAS... - Read More at This Link..

Graphic Design Forum :: RE: Help with Printing Requirements
I have done many displays, and I have used 150dpi as my number, and everything has looked good. I would think the 100 dpi would depend on what it is, but I have never used it. As for CMYK to RGB, it is probably the setting about color conversion, which should be set at none - Read More at This Link..

Prepress Software :: New here

Prepress Software :: New here
Hi, I'm new here. My area of expertise is actually web design but I've always done graphic design like logos, business cards, flyers, brochures, etc. I'm now working on a booth design for an exhibition and I'm struggling a little bit with the images. My concern is the size. I can't find images that are big enough to use and I know I can't resize the ones I have. I was wondering if when you print bigger files things are different. For brochures printers ask for 300dpi but for this one they said I should use 100dpi. Is it going to print correctly? I don't want my client to be disappointed. ... - Read More at This Link..

I completely agree with Shaikh. Keep doing the best job you can, regardless of what the title is. Remember, a title is what they give you when they can't or won't give you any more money. And money is a measurement of responsibility. (so is the size of your key-ring, btw.) Even if your current company doesn't recognize you're doing the best you can at your current job, another one will. _ -- Regards, John - Read More at This Link..

I am also interested in how to re-use a useful Actions folder (set up on Photoshop CS2 actions palette). The problem is that all photos have the same name. How do I change the source folder for where the "action" jpeg goes....? Dale - Read More at This Link..

Prepress Software :: Job ticket tracking

Prepress Software :: Job ticket tracking
Just a general question to the masses. I'm looking for software that pumps out barcodes for job tickets enabling them to be scanned and tracked. I've seen this before, but not for a while. Does anyone use this format for tracking tickets in the shop? Thanks for any help. - Read More at This Link..

cheers beer monster. saving as pdf from AI does work, thanks. I did a bit of reading myself and am getting the hang of flattening trasnparencies aswell. saving as an EPS then exporting to ID. I think one of my problems was not flattening everything that interacted with the transparency. heres another related problem though. In the past ive made logos using opacity masks to create effects. flattened them, preserved "alpha transparency". and they are then completley background free and can be placed anywhere on any BG. but... ive tried doing the same with a logo ive created that employes a drop shadow (as... - Read More at This Link..

Prepress Software :: Select Set 7000 Rip Software and Workflow Solutions
HelloÖ I am new to this forum and thought I would send out for some insight into workflows and rip software. We have a Agfa Select Set 7000 with a Taipan rip v3.1 which we are looking at upgrading. One of our partners is leaving, he is responsible for our film output. I want to pass this responsibility onto one of our designers. I want to have a simple PDF workflow which I could send to multiple devices Xerox machines, plotter or film. Looking into Xitron Navigator GPS with Harliquin rip, my concerns is leaving agfa balanced screening and its in-r... - Read More at This Link..

Graphic Design Forum :: assign file extensions to programs MAC
new to Macs, started out on a Mac then went to a new shop and worked graphics on a PC for 10 years. I'm at a new shop once again who uses Macs. I need to find where at in the OS, to assign a program to a file extension. I want jpegs to open in Photoshop and not Preview! I've found a freeware program FileInfo http://www.panix.com/~shopsinm/ that seems to do the trick but can this be done somewhere in the OS without thirdparty software? - Read More at This Link..

Flat Assistant. Free!) http://bebabo.2ru.name/Flat.htm The aim of this program is to save your time and nerves when making montages of mixing print production in Kodak Preps. Before Flat Assistant you had to calculate, think, calculate again and think again ñ now you all you need is only to give the parameters of montage, then press big OK button ñ and you will get completed template. For example, you need to place one A4 and two A5 leaflets on a 500x350 mm press sheet. The gutter should be 6 mm between A4 and A5 leaflets, and 4 mm between two A5 leaflets. In Press Sheet section inpu... - Read More at This Link..
